According to JR Hokkaido, on the morning of the 9th, a worker who was conducting an inspection found that earth and sand had flowed into the track for about 50 meters between Otoineppu Station and Otoshima Station on the JR Soya Line.

As a result of further investigation, it was confirmed that gravel under the tracks was flowing out for about 20 meters.

There were no injuries as it was before the operation started.

JR Hokkaido sees the effects of the heavy rain and is rushing to carry out restoration work, such as removing earth and sand.

Since the Soya line can no longer be operated in this section, operation has been suspended between Otoineppu Station and Wakkanai Station, and JR Hokkaido aims to resume operation on the 12th of this month.
