The plummeting drop in Covid infections continues for another week.

The Ministry of Health has registered

14,373 new cases of coronavirus, of which 9,028 have occurred in people over 60 years of age.

A decline that began a month ago and continues this week with 5,815 fewer positives than in Friday's report.

Those over 60 years of age continue to be the most affected group, corresponding to

six out of 10 new infections,

despite having experienced a decrease of 2,536 positives less than three days ago.

August began with 19,417 and today, in the second week, infections have been reduced by 5,044.

These figures have concluded the seventh wave and leave behind the 84,146 positives (42,997 cases in the elderly) in early July.

As for the

accumulated incidence,

the figure continues to drop with

336.05

positives per 100,000 inhabitants in the last report.

The month of August has marked a before and after in this section, marking 475.95 positives during the first week and leaving behind the red light that has reigned throughout the seventh wave.

The Community of Madrid is no longer the territory with the most infections.

The

Valencian Community

has taken the lead with

2,664 cases,

followed by

Andalusia with 1,721 positives and Catalonia with 1,750

infected people.

The

Community of Madrid

for the first time in the entire seventh wave leaves the

top three

and ranks fourth with

1,579

(2,061 on Friday), which means that the capital has reduced its cases by 1,382 in three days.

Infections and the sale of antigen tests fall

The drop in infections goes hand in hand with the fall in trouble for the diagnosis.

Sales of antigen tests have fallen by 30% between the last two weeks of July,

according to the report on sales in pharmacies carried out by the consulting firm specialized in health management IQVIA.

The fall in sales has been experienced in all the autonomies, especially in

Navarra

(57%),

La Rioja

(42%),

the Basque Country

(32%), the

Canary Islands

(31%),

Madrid

(30%),

Cantabria

(30 %) and

Asturias

(29%).

This data, together with the decrease in admissions for Covid-19 in hospitals, confirm the downward trend in the incidence of the disease in Spain.

Health has notified

6,043 people admitted and 392 in the ICU

in the latest report, 654 hospitalizations less than last Friday.

Those deceased by Covid have also experienced a decrease in the latest report.

The Ministry has recorded

222 deaths in the last seven days,

88 people less than in the previous notification.
