As the spread of the new coronavirus continues, the Osaka Sakai City fire department has the highest number of ``difficult transport cases'' in the 7th wave, in which it is not possible to immediately decide where to accept emergency patients, but cannot go to work due to infection. The staff is one after another, and the ambulance transport system is in a tough situation.

At the Sakai City Fire Department, there were 120 "difficult transportation cases" in the week until the 7th of this month, such as cases in which the hospital was referred to more than four times before the patient's transportation destination was decided, the most in the seventh wave. It's been a lot.

On the 9th, requests for ambulances continued one after another, and by around 10:30 am, most of the 25 ambulances had left, and four spare ambulances were also dispatched to respond.

Along with the spread of infection, the number of ambulance dispatches has also increased rapidly, with 6782 cases last month, an increase of 1.3 times from the previous month.

In addition, the number of cases per day was 276 on the 25th of last month, the highest ever.

According to the Sakai City Fire Department, in addition to the new corona patients who are recuperating at home, the number of transports due to heat stroke is increasing, and a spare ambulance is being used every day to respond.

On the other hand, there are many cases where staff and their families are infected with the new corona and cannot go to work, so we are calling on clerical staff with paramedic qualifications and retired staff to supplement the personnel.

Eiji Hori, head of the Sakai Municipal Fire Department's emergency department, said, ``The number of ambulance dispatches is increasing this month, and if the number of cases that take a long time to transport people increases, it will become difficult to maintain the ambulance crew.'' was
