Saitama Prefecture has opened a temporary facility in Tokorozawa City to temporarily recuperate elderly infected people who need nursing care.

This facility was opened by renovating a facility that Saitama Prefecture had set up as an "oxygen station" to temporarily accept patients until they were infected with the new coronavirus and were hospitalized.

Equipped with 8 beds and a barrier-free structure with no floor differences, doctors, nurses, and caregivers are also assigned.

The target is people over the age of 65 who need care for themselves and are under "Nursing Care Level 2".

The prefecture expects to accept people living alone who receive home care and those who have been discharged from the hospital after their symptoms have eased.

On the 9th, the prefecture plans to open a similar facility with 14 beds in Ina Town.

Due to the rapid increase in the number of infected people, the hospital bed occupancy rate in Saitama Prefecture remains high at 74.1% as of the 7th.

Takashi Yamaguchi, head of the Saitama Prefecture Infectious Disease Control Division, said, "We are taking measures to reduce the number of people who die or become seriously ill from the new coronavirus. Elderly people are at high risk of becoming seriously ill, so we asked them to enter this facility. I want you to rest in peace and recover," he said.
