Peter Jackson said during an episode of The Hollywood Reporter's "Awards Chatter" podcast, reported by Insider that the production of the upcoming prequel series

The Rings of Power

had contacted him... only to leave him afterwards with no news!

When the production of the series had asked him if he would be ready to get involved in the new project, as well as the screenwriter and producer Fran Walsh, the director of the trilogies

The Lord of the Rings

and

The Hobbit

answered "It is a question that is impossible to answer without seeing a script”.

This didn't seem to be a problem, and the producers replied that they would send out the first two scripts as soon as they were ready.

But Peter Jackson was never contacted afterwards, and of course did not receive a script.

“That's the last thing I heard, which is good.

No complaints from me, at all,” the overlooked director clarifies.

Impatience

On the contrary, very fair play, the Oscar-winning director explained to Kim Masters in the podcast "The Business" that he felt perfectly comfortable with the project and had no resentment.

He waits for the film, like a simple spectator, but, knowing the difficulty of this job, prefers to rejoice in seeing good films.

"The only thing I'm looking forward to is seeing him as a perfectly neutral viewer," he concluded.

Amazon Studios bosses said they have "the greatest respect for Peter Jackson and the

Lord of the Rings

movies and we're thrilled he can't wait to watch

The Rings of Power

," they commented, explaining that they had been "forced to keep the series distinct and separate from the films".

Peter Jackson might have liked to have had the scoop on this information…
