Kenyans go to the polls tomorrow Tuesday for presidential, legislative and local elections.

After two terms, incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta did not have the opportunity to run again.

The ballot is therefore dominated by two figures: those of Vice-President William Ruto and former opponent Raila Odinga who find themselves, because of alliance games, in unexpected postures.

The outgoing president indeed supports his former opponent against his vice-president.

Where does this surprising understanding come from?

What were its consequences for the campaign?
