The “Heliodome” in the city of Cosviller, eastern France, is an architectural experience that fully takes into account the environment, and aims to cope with the climate emergency. It is expected that these homes will be a springboard for a new generation of homes that fully respect and preserve the environment.

The facade of the house, directed to the south, consists of huge glass, while the area of the land on which the house was built is 160 square meters, and the building is 10 meters above the ground.

This architectural experience inclined towards the ground resembles a spider web or a huge diamond, and its surface is tilted as well.

The house has a beautiful staircase that connects its three large floors with a total area of 200 square metres.

Iodum is a refreshing home in the summer and warm in the winter without resorting to any means of cooling or heating.

Eric Wasser (65 years old) designed this house, whose name literally means "the solar house", and the price per square meter of it is 2500 euros.

As for the water heater for the house, it works on solar panels installed at the top of the house.

Wasser explains that the house covers 80% of its heating needs in the winter season.

The reason for this is due to its good insulation system (wood and cork were used in its completion), in addition to its construction oriented towards the south and the addition of blocks that resist fluctuations in temperature to it, two important factors stand out, represented by its glass roof and its amazingly inclined installation, as it was designed to make maximum use from the sun depending on its daily and annual course.

The building of the house was also based on the necessary latitudes to calculate the degree of curvature of the facade that should be adopted. The planes are straight, explains the former French worker who spent several decades refining a patented concept.

Ten years later, Wasser built the first "Yodom" on his family's plot of land in Kosviler, west of Strasbourg, where he lives with his wife Katie, a glass artist.

The couple receives many visitors interested in this architectural experience, which was completed in 2011, while the number of people who visit it to see it has increased.

Currently, only about 10 Yudom homes have been built in France, Switzerland, Spain and Germany.

Remi Mamoser, who has been responsible for years for the development of "Iodum", explains that scientific verification of the principles of heat before starting the construction of the house was a very important step.

In any case, the projects are translated into reality, and in addition to the three houses and the expansion of an already existing building, 12 inns and a spacious reception hall will be built in Savoy, in addition to the preparation of a four-storey building project for a bank.

Remy Mamoser says that the "Iudome" projects are going "well," stressing that the architectural design of these buildings constitutes "one of the best responses" to the climate emergency.

Wasser sees that "iodom" is a model for "the agreements that should be made to take advantage of what nature has to offer" to humanity.
