Recently, the Fagradal volcano on the Reykjanes Peninsula in southwestern Iceland erupted, and billowing magma flowed out from the cracks in the ground, attracting many people to check in and take pictures.

The Icelandic government has assessed that the risk of the eruption to populated areas and critical infrastructure is low.

The Icelandic government said there are currently no disruptions to flights to and from Iceland, and the international flight corridor remains open.

The eruption was a fissure eruption, which usually did not result in a big bang or a mass production of ash that spread into the stratosphere.

But contamination may be detected due to the release of gas from the eruption, so people are advised not to travel to the eruption site.
