The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is cooperating with local governments and the U.S. military to investigate infection routes and whether anyone has come into contact with the virus in Japan.



Even after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a public health emergency of international concern last month, monkeypox continued to spread, mainly in Europe and the United States. 26,864 people have been confirmed to be infected in 88 countries and regions around the world.



This is the third confirmed case of infection in Japan.
