Ahead of the Nagasaki Atomic Bombing Day on the 9th of this month, which marks the 77th anniversary of the atomic bombing, work to set up large tents and other equipment has begun at Peace Park in Nagasaki City, where the Peace Memorial Ceremony will be held.

The construction work started at 9:00 on the morning of the 4th, and in the morning, after the workers lined up the posts, they spread out the white cloth and tied it together.

In addition, in front of the peace statue, a flower offering stand was being set up, and the workers covered the assembled stand with a white cloth.

In Nagasaki Prefecture, the infection of the new coronavirus is spreading, and on the 3rd, a record 2,605 people were confirmed to be infected, but Nagasaki City held the ceremony as originally planned, with the seats spaced about 1 meter apart. I'm thinking of doing it after I'm free.

Regarding security at the ceremony, in response to the incident in which former Prime Minister Abe was shot and killed during a speech, the number of police and city patrols will be increased, and metal detectors and luggage will be installed at the entrance and exit of the venue. We will strengthen measures such as having people who pass through the inspection gate put a sticker on it.

A person in charge of Nagasaki City said, ``This year is a year of major events related to peace and the atomic bomb, such as Russia's military invasion of Ukraine and the first meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, so the ceremony will be held without delay. I want to prepare for it," he said.

Construction work continues until the 7th, the day before the ceremony rehearsal.
