Selena Gomez has ambition in film, but not just in front of the camera.

After producing the

13 Reason Why

series , the star developed his talents behind the scenes and is now "in final negotiations" to produce a remake of

Working Girl

with 20th Century.

This is announced by Deadline, which adds that the writing of the screenplay has been entrusted to Ilana Peña (

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

).

If the negotiations are successful, this adaptation should be broadcast by Hulu, a Disney subsidiary where Selena Gomez began her career.

On all fronts

The original 1988 film, directed by Mike Nichols, follows an ambitious Staten Island secretary, Tess McGill, who fills in for her boss while on sick leave.

The feature film made Melanie Griffith, who played the lead role, a global star.

The actress gave the reply to a cast of choice, composed of Sigourney Weaver, Harrison Ford or Alec Balwin and Joan Cusack.

The success was both public and critical, with $103 million in worldwide box office receipts and six Oscar nominations.

If Selena Gomez gets the green light from the studios, this remake will be added to her already busy schedule.

The star filmed the second season of

Only Murders in the Building

, a series of which she is also an executive producer.

She is also preparing to hold the main role in

In the Shadow of the Mountain

, adapted from the book by Siliva Vasquez-Lavado, a film which she is also co-producing.

The artist had also entrusted in the spring to work on his next album.
