AI (artificial intelligence) learns the movements and voices of Kabuki actor Shido Nakamura and reproduces them on the screen as an alter ego that looks exactly like him. As a result, Mr. Shido met his alter ego for the first time at the rehearsal on the 2nd.

The demonstration experiment utilizes a technology called "digital twin," which is being developed by NTT Human Information Research Laboratories and others, and which converts the movements and voices of real people into data and reproduces them in a virtual space using AI.

Kabuki actor Shido Nakamura's alter ego reproduced with this technology will be released on the stage that combines kabuki and digital technology starting from the 4th at Hakataza in Fukuoka City.

At the rehearsal held on the 2nd, while Mr. Shido was watching, an alter ego that looked exactly like himself was projected on the screen set up on the stage and was shown for the first time.

In addition to being able to reproduce detailed habits such as gestures and hand gestures, the alter ego can express voices and intonations that are close to those of the actual person by learning speech data from thousands of people.

Shido's alter ego is scheduled to appear at the beginning of the performance after the 4th.

Mr. Shido said, ``I was surprised by the amazing technology.

Ryo Ishii, a special researcher at NTT Human Information Research Laboratories, said, "I think there will be opportunities to move my alter ego in virtual space in the future, so I'm looking forward to using it."
