Tiktok has breathed life into the mashup culture, a DJ and producer genre where you excel at editing together completely disparate songs into a new and astonishing whole.
On Tiktok, of course, it is done in the mini format that is typical for the app.
In June, a user posted a mashup of the piano intros to Abbas's "Chiquitita" and Elton John's "Bennie and the Jets."
The collage has since been used in more than 54,000 videos on Tiktok, writes Rolling Stone magazine.
Now the living pianists Benny Andersson and Elton John have jumped on the bandwagon, but in a stylish analogue way.
In a clip published simultaneously on Abbas and Elton's Tiktok accounts, you first see Benny Andersson playing the intro to the Latin Abba song and then - with a sharp cut and a tempo change in the middle of the chord - a smiling Elton in a luxurious tracksuit sails on in "Bennie and the Jets”.
"We heard that Chiquitita is trending again... with Elton John!" reads the comment on the official Abba account.
And Elton John comments: "Heard about this little mashup and had to take part in it".
