Police have arrested a suspect after killing a nine-year-old girl in England.

The 22-year-old was caught in a park in the eastern English port city of Boston, the police said on Saturday.

She had previously searched for a man using surveillance camera footage.

The police thanked the population for their help.

Own investigations and tips led to the arrest, it said.

"We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this case." Two people who had been arrested in connection with the case had previously been released.

Mother saw action

The girl was stabbed to death on a quiet street in downtown Boston early Thursday evening.

As the Times newspaper reported on Saturday, the child was playing with her younger sister when she was attacked.

The mother saw the act from a café, the newspaper The Sun reported.

The paper wrote that one possible motive was that the alleged perpetrator had demanded money for factory work from the mother, who was the head of a personnel agency.

The case sparked national outrage, with Home Secretary Priti Patel expressing shock.
