It was during the Oscars in March that comedian Chris Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith's bald head, which is a result of the disease alopecia, which causes hair loss.

Something that made her husband Will Smith see red and step on stage and give Rock an ear file on live television.

Three months later, the movie star now apologizes in a video on Instagram that begins with the text "It's been a while, in the last few months I've been thinking a lot about working on myself".

In the clip, he apologizes directly to Rock, which he did not do during his apology speech at the Oscars.

- I have contacted Chris and the answer I got is that he is not ready to talk to me, so I say this: I apologize to you.

My behavior was unacceptable.

I'm here when you're ready to talk, Smith says in the clip.

He goes on to say that no part of him at the time thought that his actions were right.

He also apologizes to Chris Rock's family.

Banned from the Oscars for 10 years

In the wake of the scandal, the Oscar Academy has also banned Will Smith from attending the gala for the next ten years.

He himself has announced that he respects and accepts the decision.
