“Blacks and Moroccans are not allowed to enter” .. A shocking video reveals the racism of a luxury Parisian restaurant

The entrance guard of a high-ranking Parisian restaurant admitted that he had been instructed not to allow non-white and Moroccan customers to enter the restaurant, about which a racist scandal was recently aroused.

The French judiciary is investigating the "Manco" restaurant on the upscale avenue Montaigne near the Champs Elysees in Paris, on charges of discrimination based on origin, race or nationality after it refused to receive three black girls.

The restaurant, which specializes in Peruvian cuisine, denied that its policy was racist, and apologized for the incident to the three young women who filmed what they were exposed to and posted the video on the "Tik Tok" network on July 16.

"They said to me immediately, 'You shouldn't let too many Africans in, you shouldn't let too many Maghrebs in,'" the doorman who appears in the video said in a statement he gave Monday to BFM TV.

The guard, who was referred to by the station as Damien and was dismissed from his job after the widespread spread of the video clip on "Tik Tok", added that he received directions from "managers" and was following the "restaurant policy".

The three women were prevented from entering the restaurant on the pretext that they were not wearing evening clothes, although they were dressed elegantly, according to what appeared in the video clip.

In the video attached to the caption, “My first experience with racism,” one of the three young women said: “We are wearing evening gowns! It must have been a joke! (..) What should we wear?”

One of them also photographed white people entering the restaurant easily, while black customers were prevented from entering on the pretext of violating the dress code in the place.

Damien, who worked for a private security company, said he was instructed to find excuses to deny entry to non-white clients.

On Friday, the French public prosecutor opened an investigation into the case, which could be linked to racial discrimination.

Restaurant manager Tony Gomez told BFM last week, "When I found out about this, I was angry because, like everyone else, I discovered these pictures and asked myself what was going on."

The Lavono restaurant, located in the same area of Paris, was accused in 2018 of adopting a discriminatory policy for refusing reservations from Arab or African customers or veiled women.

But his manager denied the accusations in an investigation by BuzzFeed.
