In December 2018, the documentary series "Surviving R Kelly" was to premiere at the Manhattan Theatre.

In the talked about series, which would put further pressure on the r'n'b singer, several women come forward and say that they had relationships with the artist while they were still minors.

The women described it as a cult-like environment where many were also held captive.

During the premiere in New York, some of the women would be present and speak.

But the premiere had to be cancelled.

Shortly before, the police had received an alarm that a man had called in and threatened that a shooting would take place at the theater.

The call was then traced to Donnell Russell's home in Chicago.

Russell was found to have called the theater repeatedly to have the show cancelled, including posing as R Kelly's legal representative and threatening to sue.

Now a court has ruled that he is guilty of the threats.

The punishment will be determined on November 21.

At the end of June, R Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison for, among other things, sexual assault, extortion and bribery.
