The approximately 280 passengers who were to board a French Bee plane this Friday between San Francisco (United States) and Tahiti were stranded for more than 24 hours at the Californian airport.

They initially received no assistance.

Travelers connecting to the Pacific island from Paris have indeed learned that their second flight operated by the low-cost French airline has been canceled, says La Première.

They had first received several messages indicating delays.

Travelers were forced to stay in the airport transit area at a time when all shops were closed.

They explained that they had been left to fend for themselves, had to sleep on the ground and had been unable to obtain any blankets or food, except that sold in vending machines.

Young children

Among them were children, some of whom were very young, specifies BFM TV.

Without help or information from the airline, they said they had to negotiate with non-French-speaking staff at the airport themselves to obtain vouchers allowing them to eat once the shops were open.

They were also provided with yogurt and water.

Their flight finally took off around 11 p.m.

French Bee mentioned an immobilization of the device following a technical problem.

The airline also claimed to have taken care of all the passengers and offered them to sleep at the hotel.

The travelers assure for their part that there was no more room in the establishments and that only 20 people were thus accommodated.

“Completely lost” staff

A great vagueness also reigned about the luggage, the French not knowing where these last were.

During their day spent in the terminal, some customers managed to reach the company in France.

A passenger testified to having dealt with “completely lost” personnel.

He said he held the airline's management responsible.
