The Department of Culture in Sharjah, in cooperation with the Niger Literary and Cultural Club, organized the first edition of the Arab Poetry Forum in Niger, in the capital, Niamey, as part of the Arab Poetry Forums in Africa initiative, which aims to spread the Arabic language and enhance the presence of Arabic poetry.

Seven poets participated in the forum, namely: Ali ninth, Wakeel Haj Abd al-Salam, Mahdi al-Haj Muadh, Sidi Ould Omar Ahmed al-Kinti, Amdo Ali Ibrahim, Shams al-Din Thani West, and Salem Ag Anar.

Head of the Department of Culture Abdullah Al Owais said that "the Niger Forum for Arab Poetry is the fifth among the Arab Poetry Forums in Africa, which His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, directed to organize it after Guinea, Nigeria, Senegal and Chad," noting that the attendance of an audience of Arabic poetry in Niger confirms the status of the Arabic language in this great African country in its history, which encourages the continuation of organizing the forum in this country.

Al Owais explained that the Department of Culture in Sharjah is working to complete a series of these forums, in coordination with the authorities in Mali, Ivory Coast, South Sudan and Benin during the coming period.

For his part, the cultural coordinator in Niger, Amdou Ali Ibrahim, welcomed the forum's guests, "and to those who attended for the love of the language of the enemy," noting that the ultimate goal of the forum is to preserve the Arabic language and its literature in West African countries.
