A large number of clinical research evidences at home and abroad show that the new crown vaccine has a very significant effect on preventing disease, severe disease, and death, and strengthening immunity can further improve the protective effect.
Wang Fusheng used a set of numbers to prove it: Recently, the outbreaks in Hong Kong and Shanghai were mainly caused by the Omicron strain.
The study found that for 18- to 59-year-old infected persons who completed the full course of vaccination and booster vaccination, the risk of developing from mild to common is 63% and 65% lower than those of unvaccinated infected persons, respectively. The risk of severe illness was 91% and 94% lower, respectively.
For infected persons over 60 years old who have completed full vaccination and booster vaccination, the risk of developing from mild to common is 73% and 82% lower than that of unvaccinated infected persons, and the risk of developing from common and below to severe is higher than that of unvaccinated infected persons. Unvaccinated infected people were 89% and 95% lower, respectively.
The Chinese vaccine meets the standards set by the World Health Organization for the new crown vaccine, which is to prevent disease, severe disease, and death.
Wang Fusheng said at the meeting that the protective effect of the new crown vaccine must be viewed scientifically.
He listed three points: First, after the human body is vaccinated against the new crown vaccine, the immune response of different individuals is different.
In addition, from the perspective of the virus, the virus itself is constantly mutated, and the immune protection ability after vaccination is not the same.
The second point is that among people who have been vaccinated against the new crown, even if there is a breakthrough infection, the risk of severe illness and death is greatly reduced. The above-mentioned data can illustrate this point.
The third point is that other protective measures such as wearing masks and vaccination boosters can achieve better preventive effects, which is why people who have been vaccinated still need to strengthen personal protection.
