The Catalan singer and actress Núria Feliu has died this Friday at the age of 80, the Ministry of Culture of the Generalitat reported in a tweet collected by Europa Press.

Born in Barcelona in 1941, Feliu was one of the

pioneers of the Nova Cançó

, stood out for performing

boleros and jazz in Catalan

and published more than forty albums, such as

Cançons d'Apel les Mestres

and

Anirem tots cap al cel

, among much others.

Throughout his professional career he has received distinctions such as the Popular Culture Award from the Ministry of Culture (1976), the

Creu de Sant Jordi

(1985) and the Barcelona Medal of Honor (2008).
