The construction work lasted a year.

At the beginning of July 2022, the project was officially handed over to President Gabriel Boric.

The assembly then dissolved, the campaign for the referendum began.

If adopted, the text will be one of the most progressive in the world.

“It is the first Constitution in the world that has been drafted in a 100 percent equal manner.

That is to say that half of the members of the Constituent Assembly were women.

Representatives of indigenous peoples also participated, independent people from civil society,”

explains Manuela Royo, a former member of the Constituent Assembly.

But the latest polls predict for the moment a narrow victory of the "no".

President Gabriel Boric, who is in favor of the new constitutional text, is already anticipating a failure of the referendum.

During a television interview, he declared that if the draft Constitution were rejected, it would be necessary

"to start all over again".
