The peak of the seventh wave of Covid-19 in France has passed, since Thursday, there were 80,000 positive cases, down 30% compared to last week.
At the hospital, on the other hand, hospitalizations are still on the rise, since there is a lag of around 15 days between the drop in cases and the drop in hospital admissions.
This Thursday marked the last press conference of the scientific council, dissolved on July 31.
Its president, Jean-François Delfraissy, announced the last good news on the Covid-19 front: the peak of the seventh wave has passed in France, since Thursday, there were 80,000 positive cases.
For comparison, seven days ago there were nearly 120,000 cases.
So that's a 30% drop.
Another important thing, the reproduction rate of the virus has increased to 0.8%.
If this rate is greater than 1, the epidemic is growing.
On the other hand, if it is lower, the epidemic is regressing.

Hospitalizations still on the rise
For the moment, it is difficult to say if we will remain at a high number of contaminations, therefore on a plateau, or if we will fall back to a low level of daily infection as in the month of May.
In hospitals, on the other hand, hospitalizations are still on the rise, since there is a lag of around 15 days between the drop in coronavirus cases and the drop in hospital admissions.
Today, there are on average 1,450 new hospitalizations each day, and 136 daily admissions to critical care.
That's up 8% from last week.
The scientific council even foresees tensions in hospitals, in tourist areas such as the Southwest.
The peak at the hospital is expected by the end of the month.
