"Osaka Kansai Expo" to be held in 2025.

In Osaka, where the second Expo will be held for more than half a century, various technologies are being developed for the exhibition.

One of them is a plan to develop and exhibit the "human washing machine", which became a big topic at the 1970 World Expo last time.

The goal of "Reiwa's human washing machine" is to wash away not only the dirt on the body but also the tiredness of the mind.

What on earth will it be?

The origin of development is "lie" as a boy

A "human washing machine" that is being prototyped to be exhibited at the "Osaka Pavilion" at the 2025 Osaka Kansai Expo.

We are developing a company in Osaka that has been researching small bubbles and developing products using that technology.

Yasuaki Aoyama, chairman of this company, got the chance to make a "human washing machine" when he saw the original "human washing machine" exhibited at the 1970 Osaka Expo.

For Chairman Aoyama, who was in the 4th grade at that time, it was an exhibition that was strongly conscious of the future.

Chairman Aoyama

: "The moment I entered the venue, it was a dream world. When I saw a human washing machine, I thought it was impossible, and I thought it would be a lie if I put it in a capsule. Sometimes I wanted to be able to do something like this amazing future someday. "

Ask for advice from people who were involved in the previous development

The company started full-scale research on "human washing machines" about 15 years ago.

Over the years, we have commercialized a bath that removes dirt from the body with fine bubbles.

While trying to make a further improvement for the 2025 Expo, we also asked for advice from the two people who were involved in the development of the "human washing machine" at the previous Osaka Expo.

One of them, engineer Eiji Yamatani, has long wanted to create a "human washing machine" that not only cleans the surface of the body but also cleans the tiredness of the mind.

Mr. Yamatani

"It's natural to be able to wash your body, so I think it can't be helped to emphasize this. After all, how much your mind will be healed."

How do you "wash your heart"?

The research group of Osaka University is conducting joint research with Mr. Aoyama and others on the "heart part".

We ask people who take a bath to watch the video and study how it affects their heart rate.

A sensor is attached to the chair of the bath and it is connected to the electrocardiograph.

From the data obtained there, I am trying to analyze the heart rate and autonomic nerve values and measure whether I am relaxed or not.

The goal is to accumulate data on what kind of images are effective for relaxing in the bath, and in the future, to automatically show the optimum images for the person's physical and mental condition.

Associate Professor Teruo Kamiyoshi, Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research, Osaka University

"By three years, I would like to develop artificial intelligence (AI) to the point where images that can be relaxed naturally flow, and exhibit at the Expo. "

What I want you to see at the Expo is the "future"

The "Osaka Kansai Expo" is approaching three years later.

The "Osaka Pavilion", where the "Human Washing Machine" will be exhibited, will be exhibiting in the medical and health fields under the theme of "Life in the Future City".

Chairman Aoyama, who is developing the "Reiwa Human Washing Machine," wants to have an exhibition that will give him a dream in the future.

Chairman Aoyama

: "Children who can dream of the future by seeing the" human washing machine "that prepares not only the body but also the mind, and being impressed with" wow "like me 50 years ago. I would be very happy if it increased, so I definitely have to do it. "
