Erken Adili did not expect that in the summer when he graduated from college, he could take a hard sleeper train from Chengdu, Sichuan to his home in Kashgar, Xinjiang.

For the past four years, he has spent the nearly 49-hour train ride on a hard seat.

It was the counselor Zhu Jun who bought the sleeper ticket for him.

Knowing that he had been sitting in a hard seat all the time during Erken University, Zhu Jun wanted to help the student, hoping that he would be able to sit more comfortably when he came home from college for the last time.

Graduate students also come as counselors

In fact, Zhu Jun himself is still a second-year master student.

As a part-time counselor at the School of Computer and Artificial Intelligence of Southwest Jiaotong University, he is the "jun brother" in the eyes of students.

Although this relationship only lasted for a year, they forged a deep friendship, and the students were reluctant to part when they graduated.

In the School of Computer and Artificial Intelligence of Southwest Jiaotong University, there are also 5 part-time counselors like Zhu Jun, who participate in the work of students in all grades from freshman to postgraduate.

They are Li Qingya, Ran Xinyi, Kong Yuqi, Hu Yao and She Tu Mo Zaozuo.

During the graduation season, these young part-time counselors received a "confession" from their classmates.

The 2021 class of artificial intelligence majors organized a farewell party for part-time counselor Hu Yao.

The students recorded their gratitude and blessings to Hu Yao into a video and played it on the spot, and presented Hu Yao with white shirts with the autographs of each classmate.

This is not the first time that Hu Yao has received thanks from his classmates in his one-year part-time counselor work.

A student in Hu Yao's class was diagnosed with a first-level psychological problem in the freshman entrance psychological assessment, so he became the focus of Hu Yao's attention.

Once, when Hu Yao checked his self-study, he found that the student was absent from class for no reason. He went to the dormitory to check and found that he was drinking alone in the dormitory. Hu Yao sat down and chatted with him for 3 hours.

Afterwards, Hu Yao got in touch with the student's parents to communicate the situation.

Communicate with teachers and other students and ask them to take care of the student in their daily life.

The student later rented a house near the school and was looked after by the parents themselves.

Hu Yao still keeps in touch with parents from time to time, visits students' homes, and cares about the students' conditions.

Not long ago, Hu Yao received a letter of thanks from the parents of the students.

In the letter, the parents of the students even called Hu Yao the "noble man" of their family: "Your selfless love gave him confidence and the courage to face difficulties."

What should I do if there are more students and less teachers?

The School of Computer and Artificial Intelligence of Southwest Jiaotong University is a new school just established in 2021. It has many students and few teachers. Therefore, the school decided to select several students from graduate students to serve as part-time counselors.

Compared with full-time counselors, in addition to managing a relatively small number of students, the college has the same requirements for part-time counselors as full-time counselors: pre-job training, regular assessment, and familiarity with each student in the class. Name, ethnicity and basic information, help students find employment and start a business, and pay attention to students' mental health.

When Zhu Jun first came, he was full of time every day.

Work during the day, study at night, and lunch break is also used to catch up on papers.

Because he didn't know the majors of his students, Zhu Jun specially went to take a few professional courses in the School of Computer and Artificial Intelligence, but the most troublesome thing for him was the employment of graduates.

Zhu Jun collected the resumes of 103 students in the class, and modified the resumes of the students one by one according to the content he learned in the pre-job training, and at the same time referring to the excellent resume templates of previous students. Recruitment information will be sent on a one-to-one basis.

In order to match employment information for 11 students from Xinjiang, Tibet and other regions in the class, Zhu Jun often logs on the recruitment websites and official accounts of local universities in Xinjiang and Tibet to collect recruitment information.

Some students in the class are introverted and not good at expressing themselves. Zhu Jun will organize mock interviews to let these students learn how to highlight their advantages in interviews.

Zhu Jun shared his method of conducting mock interviews: "In the beginning, I was the interviewer, and the students were the job seekers, and interviewed them. Then, the students acted as the interviewers, and I was the job seeker, and let the students ask me questions. Through this In this way, students can understand exactly what the interviewer is looking for in a job candidate and thus identify their own shortcomings.”

A survey on the occupational status of college counselors in the capital shows that college counselors have high academic requirements and long working hours, with an average daily work of 11.6 hours, a lot of transactional work, and unclear career boundaries.

As a result, there are words on the Internet to describe college counselors: "It's not so much a college teacher as a nanny for students."

Facts have proved that the part-time counselors of Southwest Jiaotong University, who are students, take up the work of "nanny" to fulfill their duties, which is not inferior to the full-time counselors.

Mutual achievements of peers

She Tu Mo Zazuo is now a graduate student, and the students she brings are also graduate students.

They are in the same college and grade, probably because of their peers. They can empathize with many things. The classmates are very willing to share those secrets that are "inconvenient to tell the teacher" with the community.

She said that her classmates would share with her the pressure and confusion they encountered emotionally, academically or at work, and she would also share with them her own experiences or stories she had heard and seen.

Once, a girl in the class had a fever due to inflammation of the wound after a fall, and was alone in the hospital at night.

After learning about the situation, out of concern for the safety of the girls, She Tu Mo Zuo went to the hospital to accompany the students.

It wasn't until after 12 o'clock in the middle of the night, when the girl's injury was dealt with, She Tu Mo Zuo escorted her back to the dormitory safely before leaving.

This experience also made She Tu Mo Zaozuo get acquainted with the girl all of a sudden.

When in the hospital, the girl took the initiative to open the chat box and talked about her family experience and love life.

She said that she was not in a good state when she was a graduate student, was unwilling to communicate with others, was not active in doing things, and even had a tendency to depression.

But after becoming a part-time counselor, chatting with her classmates healed herself. She gradually adjusted her attitude and became more positive and optimistic about life.

"The relationship between me and the students is actually a relationship of mutual achievement. I am helping them, and they are also healing me." Shetu Mojazuo said, "Students often come to the office to see me and bring me snacks and milk tea. Things like that, it’s very warm. When I’m in trouble, they’ll always be there to help me.”

"The counselors are good to students, and the student union will give a sincere response." The performance of the six part-time counselors moved Xiao Jing, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Computer and Artificial Intelligence, Southwest Jiaotong University.

The "Regulations on the Construction of Counselor Teams in Ordinary Colleges and Universities" issued by the Ministry of Education pointed out that counselors are the backbone of ideological and political education for college students, and the organizers, implementers and guides of daily ideological and political education and management of college students.

Counselors should strive to become life mentors for students to grow into talents and close friends for healthy lives.

Xiao Jing said that as the first batch of part-time counselors of the college, this team is also an ideological and political work team. They are diligent, practical, and conscientiously implement the fundamental task of building morality and cultivating people, which reflects that contemporary college students have a deep understanding of the party's educational cause.

At the same time, as students in the school, their work performance itself is also the best reflection of the school's educational effectiveness.

During a year of work, the part-time counselors became siblings with the students.

"We have accumulated a deep friendship with Mr. Hu in the little things. We hope that Mr. Hu can remember us forever, and we will remember her." As one of the organizers of this farewell party, the 2021 class worker Liang Guoshuai, the newly promoted squad leader of intelligent Maoyi, said this when talking about the original intention of organizing the farewell party.

Hu Yao was particularly moved by attending the farewell party held for him by the students.

As a "returning gift", she wrote a handwritten letter for each of more than 70 students, completing her "each other farewell" with the students.
