Can James Bond be a woman?

Absolutely not, according to Ana de Armas.

The Cuban actress is part of the spy franchise, playing a CIA agent in

Dying Can Wait

, and she was recently asked about the various options available to the saga's producers about the character's future.

And obviously, she is not for a feminization of Bond.

“There is no need for a female Bond.

There shouldn't be a need to steal someone else's character to take over….

It's (based on) a novel, and it leads into this world of James Bond and this universe fantasy that it's in,” she told

Important changes

If she does not think it is important to "genderswap" the spy, played recently by Daniel Craig, Ana de Armas believes, however, that changes are essential in the way women are treated in the franchise.

“What I would like is for the female roles in the Bond films, even though Bond will continue to be male, to be brought to life in a different way.

Give them a more substantial role and recognition.

That's what I think is more interesting than turning things around,” she added.

Barbara Broccoli, the producer of the saga, announced anyway that whatever the casting of the next spy, it will be a man, even if nothing else has been decided.

"He's a male character.

It was written like a man and I think it will probably remain a man.

And it's very good like that.

We don't need to turn male characters into female ones.

Let's just create more female characters and adapt the story to those female characters,” she told The
