Prior to the NPT = Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference to be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York next month, A-bomb survivor groups and others will exchange opinions with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the final document to be compiled at the conference will be the significance of the Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty. I requested that you encourage them to specify.

The "Nuclear Weapons Abolition Japan NGO Liaison Committee" formed by the A-bomb survivor groups and NGOs held a press conference and explained the contents of the exchange of opinions held with the person in charge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 20th.

In the exchange of opinions, the NGO side stated at the NPT Review Conference that the Japanese government would recognize the significance of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and that the significance of the treaty and the inhumanity of nuclear weapons would be clarified in the final document showing the direction of nuclear disarmament. He requested about five items, such as working to encourage them.

In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that it would attend the meeting with an understanding of the importance of the inhumanity of nuclear weapons, and that the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons was a treaty that would serve as an exit for a "world without nuclear weapons." That is.

Prime Minister Kishida will be the first Japanese Prime Minister to attend the NPT Review Conference, and A-bomb survivors will also speak during the conference.

At the meeting, Mr. Terumi Tanaka, the representative member of the Japan Confederation of Atomic Bomb Victims, said, "The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons has come into effect, and the conference has been held while Russia continues to invade while threatening with nuclear weapons. The Japanese government should take the position of the A-bombed country seriously and speak on our behalf. "
