Why did Veronique kill the children?

On the 21st, SBS 'The Story of Biting the Tail' (hereinafter 'Kokkomu'), tracked the story of that day that shook the Republic of Korea in 2006 with the subtitle 'Mitochondrial Mitochondria of a Murderer - 2006 Freezer Murder Case'.

On July 23, 2006, a phone call was received from the Bangbae Police Station in Seoul.

that there is a body in his home.

After a shocking report, the powerful team arrived at a luxury villa in Gangnam.

The owner of this house, which is a house on the first floor and the third floor, is French Kurzou.

He took the detectives to the utility room, where he revealed the unbelievable scene.

Two infants' bodies were found from the freezer on the other side of the utility room.

There were one child's body in the fourth and fifth compartments of the utility room, respectively, and detective Chun, whose wife was pregnant at the time, immediately began an investigation out of his affection for the children found dead.

The first person to report was Jean-Louis Courgio, a Frenchman, the owner of the house, and his wife and son were four in total.

Courtois also went to France with him, but he returned home early due to an important work schedule, and when he returned home he encountered a shocking fact.

The investigation team sent the freezer and babies to the National Forensic Service and waited for the test results.

The babies were newborns, presumed to have completed ten months in their mother's womb.

Tests that took a full day to thaw the bodies showed that the babies were both born normally and then killed.

However, the cause of death or the time of death could not be determined because it had been frozen for a long time.

What is certain is that the babies were not born in a hospital.

And the same towel that was wrapped around a baby at the time was found in Kurgio's house, and it was confirmed that the plastic that wrapped the baby's body was also in this house, confirming that the babies were born in this house.

The police were the first to suspect Kurzou's wife.

But Kurzo said that three years ago, her wife had a hysterectomy, making her pregnant, and it was true.

The police continued their investigation to see if there were any suspects, based on several hypotheses.

However, Kurzo, a leading suspect, was not charged with anything, including his friend Pierre, whom he shared a security card, and a housekeeper at the Kurgio house.

In the meantime, genetic testing of the two children was carried out, and it was confirmed that they matched the genes of Courzo.

Detectives were shocked by this.

In particular, it was revealed that Kurzo had already left Korea according to the pre-booked schedule, and the investigation was put on hold.

With the results of the genetic test, the police requested Kurzo to return home as soon as possible.

But he said he would respond with defamation, insisting that he was never a father.

However, at this time, Detective Chun's wife, who was a nursing officer, did not dispel his suspicions about Kurgio's wife.

"Her wife is pregnant, so she has sepsis," he said.

Detective Chun waved his hand, saying that Kurzo's Ane Veronique's uterine surgery didn't make sense because it was done three years ago.

But his wife said, "Didn't she say that she didn't know when the babies died?" and asked if the crime could have been three years ago.

Detective Cheon, who felt as if he had been hit with a single shot, hypothesized that he had kept the body after he murdered the infant three years ago and pursued it.

As a result, the towel wrapped around the baby was purchased 3 years ago, and the label in the bathroom was worn out, but the label in the freezer was found to be clean.

In addition, when we tracked down the store written on the plastic bag wrapped around the baby, it was revealed that the store closed three years ago, adding to the credibility of the hypothesis.

Detective Cheon, who visited the hospital where Veronique had undergone surgery three years ago, straight-up questions about the state of his uterus at the time.

The doctor then answered that it was a pregnant uterus, and agreed that Detective Chun's hypothesis was sufficiently probable.

In response, the police commissioned a DNA test for Veronique and the babies.

Because the specimen was not in Korea, the police had to find it inside the house.

So I found a toothbrush, a comb, and an earpick.

And the National Forensic Service confirmed that Veronique's DNA was detected in the comb through a mitochondrial test, and compared it with the DNA of babies.

As a result, it was found that the DNA of the body and the DNA of Veronique matched.

In response to this result, Veronique and Kurzou raised their voices that the test result could not be accepted.

It cannot be accepted because it has not been tested with a proper sample.

Again, Detective Chun's wife gave a hint.

It is common to leave a tissue sample during surgery, but ask to see if there is a tissue sample at the hospital where you had uterine surgery 3 years ago.

Fortunately, the hospital kept a tissue sample from Veronique, and genetic testing with it confirmed that the body and Veronique's DNA match again.

In France, the Kurgios volunteered to hold a press conference.

They complained of injustice, saying, "My wife did not have two children. We are only a target for the Korean media. We do not know why this happened to us."

Our National Forensic Service and the police did not care about this reaction.

Even if you deny it, you will prove it with results.

Veronique then underwent a DNA test in France, and the results matched the body's DNA as expected.

French police arrested Veronique.

And Veronique confessed that she gave birth and killed the baby alone.

The murdered children are brothers born a year apart.

It turns out that the children were born in the previous house, not the current Seorae Village house, and Veronique came to the current house with two bodies in a backpack.

Four years ago, in August 2002, Veronique, who was pregnant, gave birth to a child alone, killed it on the spot, and put it in the freezer.

And a year later he committed the same crime.

And he came to Seorae Village a year before the body was discovered.

And during the investigation, Veronique confessed that before coming to Korea, she secretly gave birth to another baby, killed it, and put it in a fireplace to kill it.

As a result, French society fell into disrepair.

And they apologized for their arrogance for belittle the Korean investigation.

Surprisingly, as a result of the investigation, the incident was the sole act of Veronique.

Kurjoo received many suspicions, but after years of investigation, his innocence was confirmed.

So why did Veronique kill his children?

Veronique said, "He didn't kill the baby, he just part of his body."

Also, he said, "I forgot I was pregnant, but one day, a baby suddenly came out and I was scared."

In response, French investigative agencies commissioned a psychoanalysis of Veronique, and it was revealed that Veronique suffered from pregnancy refusal.

If you suffer from refusal of pregnancy, there may be bleeding that can be mistaken for menstruation, and the child who knows the mother's refusal to conceive lives in hiding without being noticed. condition was found to be

However, it turned out that some doctors do not admit refusal to conceive, and some express concern that this could be a means to justify murder.

And these views differed as to Veronique's punishment.

There was a clear difference between saying that he should be sentenced to a severe sentence and that he should take refusal into account.

A French court sentenced Veronique to eight years in prison.

It was speculated that this was a decision made with some consideration for refusal of pregnancy by a French court, which can usually lead to life imprisonment for killing a minor.

After all the cases were resolved, Detective Chun couldn't hide his sadness from the baby's point of view.

He said, "I made you release your grudges, but seeing that your mother is the culprit, I feel like I'm right for you to release your grudges. I felt a lot of regret from the children's point of view, not from a regretful heart."

Detective Chun's wife also said, "People only see the case, but during the investigation process, the children who were corpses were locked in the freezer for three years and remained in the freezer after they were found. It was a little sad," he said.

It was very sad to see the lives of the children who knew and watched her mother's heart, but were denied even when they were born, and who were deprived of even the opportunity to see the proper world.

Children sent to France after the case was closed.

The Kurzos put their children in the family register and buried them in the grave.

They were also given the names Alexandre and Toma.

Children who would have been nineteen or twenty years old if they were still alive.

What do these children want to say to us?

Regarding today's story, Byul drew attention by saying, "It is certain that there should be no children who are born by mistake in this world for nothing."
