China News Service, Lanzhou, July 21 (Zhang Xiaoliang, Wang Zhilong, Xu Wenxuan) The Propaganda Department of the Dunhuang Municipal Party Committee of Gansu announced on the 21st that the Dunhuang Culture Global Connection - Entering Osaka, Japan, "The Dunhuang of the World" online seminar was held a few days ago.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Japan. The purpose of this cultural exchange activity is to further enhance the understanding and friendship between the two countries and their peoples, and to push the two sides towards a better future together.

  Xue Jian, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Osaka, said that the discovery of the Mogao Grottoes gave scholars from many countries the opportunity to directly contact Dunhuang, and "Dunhuang Studies" was formed and developed in a worldwide form.

Looking back on the 50 years of normalization of Sino-Japanese diplomatic relations, the Japanese people and Dunhuang have forged a profound friendship, and Dunhuang can be said to be the holy land of Sino-Japanese friendship.

It is hoped that people from China and Japan can inherit the tradition of Sino-Japanese friendship, protect the Dunhuang research results created by the older generation, and go hand in hand.

  Dunhuang Mayor Zhu Jianjun pointed out that since 1994, Dunhuang has successively established friendship cities with Usuki, Kamakura and Nikko in Japan. As an exchange platform, extensive and pragmatic exchanges and cooperation have been carried out at various levels such as economy, tourism, and culture.

The special lecture "Dunhuang in the World" allows everyone to meet in the cloud, and sincerely invites friends from all walks of life in Japan to visit Dunhuang after the epidemic is over to discuss friendship, promote cooperation, and jointly help the flowers of friendship between the two sides bloom brilliantly.

  Zhao Shengliang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Dunhuang Academy, analyzed the Dunhuang culture from the aspects of the architecture, painted sculptures, and murals of the Dunhuang Grottoes, including the results of the exchange and integration of Eastern and Western civilizations.

He said that after more than 100 years of development, there are scholars in more than 20 countries in the world conducting research on Dunhuang Studies and related fields.

Dunhuang studies have also become an important part of the exchanges between Chinese and foreign scholars.

  Zhao Shengliang said that Dunhuang Research Institute vigorously promotes international cooperation and exchanges, and has successively conducted a number of cooperative research and conservation projects with foreign research institutions and universities in Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom, and achieved fruitful results.

Based on the lasting and in-depth exchanges and cooperation with Japanese scholars, it is hoped to maintain and expand contacts with all walks of life in Japan, and further promote the protection and research of Dunhuang cultural heritage.

  The event was hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Gansu Provincial Government and the Dunhuang Research Institute, and undertaken by the Chinese Consulate General in Osaka and the Dunhuang Municipal Government.

Relevant personnel from the Dunhuang Research Institute and the Dunhuang Municipal Government, the Chinese Consulate General in Osaka, well-known Japanese academic experts and more than 100 Japanese people participated in the event.

  Since this year, "Dunhuang Culture Global Connection" has successively entered Malta, Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Kazan, Russia, Lagos, Nigeria and other countries and regions.
