The General Directorate of Public Health of the Community of Madrid has confirmed a case of monkey pox or
monkeypox
in a 7-month-old baby who has contracted the disease at home, since his parents have also had the infection.
Both the minor and his parents are in good health and the baby is kept
in isolation
at home.
Health indicates that it is
a specific case
due to the coincidence of the infection in the baby's parents and that the transmission has occurred during their care
To date, the Madrid Ministry of Health has detected
1,577 cases of monkeypox
and has ruled out 403 suspicions.
At a general level, the same contagion profile is maintained as until now, that is, men who have sex with men in high-risk situations.
On the other hand, Health has begun this week to administer the pre-
exposure vaccine
against monkeypox to people
between 18 and 45 years of age
with high-risk sexual practices and who meet the established clinical criteria.
The administration of the dose is carried out by
appointment
on the website of the Community of Madrid and has begun by enabling 50 daily openings that will be expanded depending on demand.
In Spain, according to data from the National Epidemiological Surveillance Network (RENAVE), a total of 3,125 confirmed cases of monkeypox have been reported, according to the latest report provided by the Ministry of Health.
The reported cases come from 16 autonomous communities: Madrid 1,378, Catalonia 950, Andalusia 333, Valencian Community 107, Canary Islands 90, Balearic Islands 70, Basque Country 56, Aragon 37, Asturias 23, Galicia 21, Castilla La Mancha 13, Castilla y León 13 , Extremadura 10, Navarra 8, Murcia 8 and Cantabria 8.
The gap between the data released by the Madrid Ministry and the ministry is due to the gap in the notification of new infected.
