Oh, the good ice cream!

The heat wave currently raging in western Europe is not sparing animals.

Thus, the animal park of Pairi Daiza, in Belgium, had to “put in place special measures for the 7,000 animals in order to counter the effects of high heat”, announces the management, in a press release.

On the program, additional showers, but above all frozen snacks.

And obviously, some appreciate the little occasional ice cream, especially among the monkeys.

Do primates have a favorite scent?

The press release does not say so, but we would put a coin on watermelon or banana.

Air conditioning and refrigerated pools

In addition, the trainers remain very attentive to those who suffer the most from high temperatures.

"This is the case, for example, of the five giant pandas who benefit from air-conditioned caves or the four polar bears who have access to refrigerated pools as well as an ice cave", assures the park.

Increased vigilance is also exerted on walruses and penguins which, in their natural environment, are hardly used to dodging.

“These pools and premises are refrigerated and air-conditioned thanks to the green energy produced mainly by the solar installation which extends over 20 hectares”, specifies the management.

Of course, the park does not allow visitors to grill on site either.

Foggers have been installed in the area called Terre du Froid.

Beware of thermal shocks!
