A DNA test by Russian authorities on a body found on the southern coast of Sakhalin last month in an accident where a tour boat sank off the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido matched the missing passenger DNA data. I found out that the Japanese side was contacted.

The match was made by a man from Hokkaido, and it is expected that the Japanese side will be able to identify him after the body is handed over.

In April, 14 people were killed in the accident where the tour boat "KAZU 1" sank off the coast of the Shiretoko Peninsula, and the whereabouts of 12 people are still unknown.

A body believed to be Japanese was found on the southern coast of Sakhalin late last month, and according to people familiar with the matter, a DNA test by Russian authorities matched the missing passenger's DNA data, according to diplomatic routes. It means that the Japanese side was contacted.

The match was made by a man living in Hokkaido.

Regarding this accident, the two bodies found on Kunashir Island in the Northern Territories are also consistent with the DNA data of the missing passengers and crew as a result of DNA analysis by the Russian authorities.

In the future, it is expected that the timing and method of delivery of the corpse will be adjusted, and after the delivery, the Japanese side will also conduct a DNA test to identify the corpse.
