We used to hear Nicky Doll introduce her while counting “1, 2, 3… Kam!

“We will now have to do without it.

Kam Hugh was eliminated at the end of the fourth episode of

Drag Race France

, revealed Thursday on France.tv and broadcast Saturday midnight on France 2. The Parisian drag queen from Ardèche lost to La Big Bertha during lip-sync, the essential test of playback or lip synchronization - on

DJ

Diam's.

The show said goodbye to one of the candidates who offered the most fashionable and successful looks.

Interview.

During the lip-sync, you left the stage to change your wig before coming back, do you think that your elimination is due to that?

I don't know, since we don't have any details on that.

Of the five minute performance – we did the lip-sync on the whole song – I had to take out ten seconds, I'm not sure that makes a big difference.

It was necessary for me because the wig was huge and I couldn't give it all away.

I couldn't have a second wig underneath because it was something very constructed.

So I had prepared another wig and I told myself that I would go out quickly to put it on.

It was a little “good tv moment” [good TV moment].

On social networks, many Internet users felt that your elimination was unfair.

Is it a consolation?

It's nice to hear.

Nicky [Doll, the host] had found some very good words.

She said to me, “You know, Kam, sometimes it's better to leave a little early and people want to see a lot more.

It had done me a lot of good.

And then I had won the ball [during the previous episode, a test consisting in creating three looks on an imposed theme], which is one of the biggest challenges of

Drag Race

, that allowed me to take out the head held high.

In the end, it's a show where, of course, it's cool to win, but where the contestants all have something to show.

We will worship these ten people and not just the winner, that's what is important to remember.

I would also like to say that the choice of the jury must be respected.

[Big] Bertha also deserved to stay.

Do you regret having chosen to embody Mireille Mathieu during the "Snatch Game" event?

It was risk taking.

In 2022, it's becoming quite rare for drag queens to imitate someone else, so it's still complicated, especially for me.

I had chosen Mireille Mathieu because, many people do not know, she is the most famous French star in the world.

I like her a lot, I recognize myself a lot in her.

She has this very cute, sweet side.

I thought it might be interesting to try to make her funny by playing on her characteristics like her haircut, her friendships with certain people.

What is your best memory ?

Winning the ball was an amazing experience.

When I arrived in the competition, it was the challenge that I absolutely wanted to win because I attach a lot of importance and work to imagining and creating looks.

All of the ones you've seen have been custom-made.

People think I just gave money to a designer who made the outfit, that's not true.

I wanted to prove that I was 100% capable of designing something on my own.

What I have done.

Winning the event was a pretty incredible moment of validation.

More broadly, my best moment is also telling myself that we represent French drag, that I am one of the ten queens who had the chance to participate in this diverse season, with incredible talents.

With each elimination, we know that we lose someone irreplaceable.

Has your participation in “Drag Race France” changed things for you?

Are you already reaping the rewards?

There, I'm on my fifth day of non-stop drag, it doesn't stop.

We do viewing parties [collective viewings in bars] where a lot of people come.

This weekend, I performed at a festival in Lyon, my hometown, and the enthusiasm of the people was incredible.

I feel the enthusiasm on social networks and in real life: people tell me that they are happy to see the show arrive in France.

We can also highlight other drags, who do not participate in Drag Race, who are also very good artists.

In the fourth episode, Lolita Banana broke down, no longer able to bear feeling left out.

Other candidates explained this isolation by the fact that she was too competitive…

Before filming, I was the closest queen to Lolita.

We hosted a lot of brunches together.

I know her very well and I adore her.

She is very cheerful and pleasant.

At the start of the season, she was a bit in her head.

We all want to do well and that can put pressure on us and prevent us from being 100% ourselves.

I think that this moment was needed for things to come out and for things to start off on a good footing.

Right after, I found the Lolita Banana that I knew and that we see on the screen, jovial, dynamic.

This sequence shows what drag is all about: we support each other.

This week, the news was marked by the remarks of Caroline Cayeux, the minister delegate in charge of local authorities, who, after saying that she maintained her remarks made during the debates on the "marriage for all" law, referred to LGBT people as "those people".

Words that sparked controversy and led her to apologize.

What would you like to tell him?

“These people” are his fellow citizens.

We are an integral part of society and I think

Drag Race

is proof of that.

The show works very well, it shows “these people”, LGBTQIA + queer drag artists.

The fact that France 2 has decided to program it every Saturday is a real sign of confidence and a desire to change things.

It is also proof that France is ready.

As usual, people who are afraid or who criticize are those who don't know.

I think when you know where drag comes from, it changes everything.

Drag Race France

makes this clear.

It's much more than entertainment, it's also a political show, while being beautiful, jovial, pleasant to watch.

I hope she [Caroline Cayeux] watches

Drag Race

every Saturday evening, on the public service (smile).

Where will it be possible to applaud you in the coming weeks?

I'll be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Le Grand Bleu in Bastille for the viewing party for the fifth episode – for the following ones, it will be at the same place, at the same time, but on Saturdays.

Friday, I will be at the

Bitch Party

at YOYO (Palais de Tokyo) for a crazy performance.

All the info is on my social networks, I share everything on Instagram.

Something to add ?

A lot of people told me that it was a shame that I was eliminated and that they would have liked to see my runways [parades]… They will always be able to see me because I have shot and made videos of each of the looks that I have. had planned for the next themes.

I will share them on my YouTube channel and my Instagram.
