Faced with the persistence of ozone air pollution in the Bouches-du-Rhône, a consequence in particular of the heat wave, differentiated traffic will be put in place from Monday in the city center of Marseille, announced the prefecture in a press release.

This measure will remain in force "as long as the ozone pollution thresholds remain at the level that motivated the triggering of the level 2 alert", i.e. 180 micrograms of ozone per m3, she specified.

Polluting heavy goods vehicles banned from the city center

Activated since Saturday in the Bouches-du-Rhône, this level of alert, triggered when the regulatory threshold has been exceeded for several days in a row, implies "reinforced vigilance for all public".

“Conditions of weak winds, strong sunshine and high temperatures are conducive to the formation of ozone by photochemistry from pollutants of human origin”, specified in a press release the organization of monitoring of the quality of the air AtmoSud, Dréal Paca and ARS Paca.

Under differentiated traffic, only light vehicles with a Crit'Air sticker from 0 to 3 will be able to circulate in the city center of Marseille on Monday.

For trucks, it will be necessary to have a Crit'Air sticker from 0 to 2 only to be authorized to circulate.
