He was diagnosed with congenital heart disease when he was 6 months old. Due to the lack of local treatment conditions, unknown economic burden and other factors, the disease has been delayed until now.

The news of the "Angel Journey" screening and rescue operation for children with congenital heart disease in Xinjiang was passed from the Kashgar area to the health workers in various townships. In order to catch up with the expert screening in Shufu County on July 15, Thelma's father made an appointment one day ahead of schedule. I started from my home on Sunday, and it took more than 5 hours to descend from a high-altitude area. The medical team screened 154 children who were eligible for surgery in three days

On July 15, the Chinese Red Cross Foundation's "Angel Journey" screening and rescue operation for children with congenital heart disease in Xinjiang was launched in Kashgar.

During the 10-day screening operation, the medical expert team of Sun Lizhong from Shanghai, the volunteer team of Yang Guang medical experts from Jiangsu, and the local medical expert team of the People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region will be divided into three teams in Kashgar-Tumu. In Shuke, Yili-Akesu, Urumqi and its surrounding areas, children aged 0-16 in Xinjiang are screened for congenital heart disease by on-site and online remote diagnosis.

After the launching ceremony, the medical team worked on the spot at the screening point provided by the Shufu County People's Hospital.

At the same time, another team of medical experts carried out screening in Yining City and Gongliu County, Yili Prefecture, in northern Xinjiang.

In addition, the medical team conducts home screening for residents who are inconvenient to go to the screening point, and conducts home follow-up visits to children who have undergone surgery last year.

On July 16, the medical team entered the second day of work. The medical team arrived at the Zhongkang Hospital in Jiashi County and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Yuepuhu County in Kashgar.

After a morning screening, 24 of the 126 children in Zhongkang Hospital met the surgical criteria.

In the afternoon, the medical team continued to screen 221 children for congenital heart disease at Yuepuhu County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital.

The screening site was busy and orderly, in strict accordance with the requirements of epidemic prevention and control.

Under the guidance of the staff of the Red Cross Society of the cities and counties in Xinjiang, parents and their children quietly lined up in long queues for registration, waiting and examination.

Due to the centralized screening, there are more than 100 people at each screening point on average, and the medical team usually fights continuously from 10 am to 8 pm.

They don't stop at all, not even thinking about eating lunch, drinking water and going to the toilet.

At each screening point in Xinjiang, because the temporary B-ultrasound room is simple, and the uncooperative children cannot be sedated before examination, it is a test of the love, patience and professionalism of B-ultrasound doctors.

Doctors often interact with children, and sometimes wrap the baby quickly and carefully after the examination to speed up the examination process.

The medical team screened 918 people over three days and found that 154 children were eligible for surgery.
