Lea Michele is set to make her Broadway return in a staging of the musical

The Glee

star

will reprise the lead role, that of Fanny Brice, following Beanie Feldstein, who just announced her departure due to artistic disputes with producers.

However, Lea Michele will not tread the boards of the August-Wilson theater before September 6.

It is Julie Benko who will take over as of July 31, the date of Beanie Feldstein's departure.

Finally, we also note the arrival of actress Tovah Feldshuh in the role of Mrs. Brice who, until then, was played by Jane Lynch.

New life

“To say this is a dream come true is an understatement.

I am incredibly honored to join this incredible cast and production and return to the stage to play Fanny Brice on Broadway,” Lea Michele said in an Instagram post following news of her arrival in the musical.

For her part, Beanie Feldstein published a long message to explain how her decision to leave the room had been difficult and that she had been honored to play this character who, originally, was camped by Barbra Streisand in 1964.

Unfortunately, it seems that the interpretation of the actress was only partially convinced, as well as the staging which only received a meager nomination at the last Tony Awards.

It remains to be seen whether Lea Michele will be able to breathe new life into this piece.
