Before three years have passed since the Kyoto Animation studio arson incident that killed 36 employees and injured 32 people on the 18th of this month, a person in charge of a company participated in the smoke in the building. An evacuation drill was held assuming that the flame had spread.

The training was conducted by the Kyoto City Fire Department at a training facility in Minami Ward, and 16 people including local department stores and hotel fire prevention managers participated.

In the training to confirm the evacuation method while the smoke and flames actually rise by using a smoke-producing device or burning straw, the participants took the guidance of the firefighters and put their mouths and noses with a handkerchief. We confirmed that we should evacuate in a low-covered position, and if smoke spreads and visibility deteriorates, we use the light of our smartphone to walk against the wall.

In addition, in the training assuming that smoke spreads on the stairs and it is not possible to evacuate from the room on the 7th floor, participants block the gaps in the door with tape to prevent smoke from entering and help outward from the window. I was learning to ask for.

The deputy store manager of the participating department store said, "I once again felt that the initial actions were important in the event of a fire."

"We would like to continue training to take evacuation measures that go one step further with companies in order to protect lives from fires," said Motoi Kosai, chief of the prevention section of the Kyoto City Fire Department.
