Louvre Abu Dhabi revealed the details of its new cultural season 2022-2023, which includes a program full of activities and inspiring experiences with the opening of three exhibitions, including the most comprehensive exhibitions on impressionism in the region "Impressionism: On the Path of Modernity", ahead of the celebration of the museum's fifth anniversary.

Louvre Abu Dhabi Director Manuel Rabaté said: “As part of our celebration of the museum’s fifth anniversary in November, the museum continues its efforts to give all visitors what they need during the new season of exhibitions, artwork, events and programmes.

For her part, Director of the Department of Artistic Collections, Curators and Scientific Research at Louvre Abu Dhabi, Dr. Soraya Njeim, said: “The strength of our holdings and the artworks on display stem from our unique semi-permanent model and ability to tell the stories that it embodies.

“Impressionism: On the Path of Modernity” (from October 12 to February 5) deals with this avant-garde artistic movement that arose during the 1860s in Paris, and revolutionized the perception and painting of the world.

The exhibition, which includes 100 paintings from the Impressionist movement, focuses on the period from the mid-1850s until the end of the same century.

Louvre Abu Dhabi, in partnership with the Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille, is also organizing the second edition of the “Art of Now 2022” exhibition and the Richard Mille Art Prize at Louvre Abu Dhabi from November to February.

“The Art of Now” receives the participation of contemporary artists (both citizens and residents) in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, where the selected artists and their works will become part of the museum’s global story, and their works will be displayed in the museum’s gallery, which is a platform for interaction and exchange of contemporary art.

As for the exhibition “Bollywood’s Biggest Stars”, organized in partnership with the Musée du Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac and the Foundation Museums de France (from January 25 to June 4, 2023), it is a window to learn about the rich artistic and cultural heritage of the Indian subcontinent through its rich history in the field of industry. the movies.

Programs

Louvre Abu Dhabi will continue its fifth anniversary celebrations over the course of a month, with an extensive schedule of cultural programs that will see the launch of a range of events to suit all visitors.

It will focus specifically on the latest exhibitions, loan pieces and new collectibles, through to panel discussions, concerts, performances, and community engagement.

The celebrations will also witness the launch of a series of events and workshops, such as a contemporary dance show inspired by the exhibition “Impressionism: On the Path of Modernity”, in addition to a theatrical performance inspired by the “Bollywood’s Top Stars” exhibition, and a diverse schedule of panel discussions and film screenings.
