The institution is Hong Kong's first non-profit educational institution jointly established by cross-border government, industry, academia and research, focusing on serving innovation and technology talents. It aims to drive industrial innovation and social progress through educational innovation, and promote breakthroughs in Hong Kong's innovation and technology economy.
The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, expressed the hope that all sectors of the society and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will work together to open a new chapter for Hong Kong's innovation and technology industry.

Driven by both policy and technology, the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park has ushered in a period of development dividends.
Huang Keqiang, CEO of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Corporation, said that the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park currently has more than 1,100 innovative technology companies and 17,000 staff, including 11,000 R&D personnel.
