On the eve of the start of the July 14 festivities, the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture reminds mayors of the “particular drought observed this year” context through a press release.

The State services then invite elected officials to "systematically seek the opinion of the departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis) before any fireworks and to exercise the greatest caution".

Since 2014, municipalities located in areas at risk of forest fires in the Alpes-Maritimes must request authorization one month in advance to set off fireworks.

In the Gard, more than twenty municipalities have announced the cancellation or postponement of the July 14 fireworks in the face of the risk of forest fires.

This is also the case in the Bouches-du-Rhône, particularly in Aubagne, Allauch, Charleval, Meyreuil and even Plan-de-Cuques.

Many prohibitions for individuals

To “ensure public tranquility and safety during the July 14 festivities”, the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture has also taken several measures.

Thus, it is prohibited to sell or hold and use pyrotechnic articles for individuals for "all the communes of the department" and this from "July 9 to 14 inclusive on the public highway and in the direction of the public highway as well as 'near and in residential buildings or towards them'.

Another decree prohibits “the sale, purchase, transport and use of corrosive combustible fuels and flammable gases in any transportable container” from July 13 at midnight to July 15 at 6 am.
