The election campaign officially started yesterday.

It will last 21 days until the ballot which will be held on Sunday 31 July.

Yesterday Macky Sall spoke at the exit of the great mosque of Dakar.

“

The Senegalese president attended the Tabaski prayer”

and then spoke....

The

Dakaractu

information site reports the words of the Head of State, who called for

"continuing to live in harmony, diversity and unity".

According to

Dakaractu

, President Macky Sall also reminded “

political actors of the imperative to campaign with full responsibility.

"The electoral period is not a period of lawlessness. The State will remain vigilant so that this campaign period is stable and peaceful".

Eight lists are in the race

“165 MP seats are at stake,

” writes

Le Pays

.

“This election, the last before the 2024 presidential election, will see the participation of eight political lists, including those of the main opposition coalitions.

The Senegalese can therefore breathe a sigh of relief

 ,”

understands the Burkinabé newspaper.

Because, the non-validation, by the Constitutional Council, of the list of holders of the opposition coalition Yewwi Askan Wi, led by Ousmane Sonko, had raised fears that the ballot would not be held.

After pounding the pavement and organizing pot concerts to protest against the disqualification of their champion, the opposition finally decided to take part in the ballot.

Many issues

For

Le Pays

, the objective is clear: “

Yewwi Askan Wi wants to force Macky Sall to live together.

To achieve this, Ousmane Sonko's coalition is considering an alliance with the Wallu Senegal coalition formed around the Senegalese Democratic Party, the PDS, of former President Abdoulaye Wade.

And the least we can say is that the opposition will take advantage of the campaign period to hammer out tirades on a possible third candidacy that is rightly or wrongly attributed to Macky Sall.

The ruling coalition (...) will probably provide the necessary response.

And that is the beauty of democratic debate.

A possible third term... the subject is also addressed by

the Observer Paalga

, who assures that

ECOWAS is reviewing its texts to legislate, on this 3rd term, The Observer Paalga who specifies that Macky Sall responded recently saying: “I will answer this question after the legislative elections.

It will then be time to set the course for 2024”.

“A dodging that does not reassure his opponents.

In Togo, the death of 7 children questions

Seven children were killed and two others seriously injured in the night from Saturday to Sunday in the savannah region plagued in recent weeks by armed attacks.

Terrorist act or blunder?

At the moment we really don't know what happened.

For

Wakat Séra

“The viral images on social networks that show bodies lying next to bicycles or transported by men in uniform.

Beyond the macabre accounting and especially the age of the victims, it is the very origin of this killing that is debated, pending official sources.

If it is certain that detonations or explosions were heard by witnesses not far from the heinous theater, the fact remains that the artistic vagueness remains entire on the weapons which were used.
