  Accumulate strength

On October 26 and 27, 2019, Jay Chou's Carnival World Tour was successfully held at Jinan Olympic Sports Center Stadium.

This tour is Jay Chou's concert to celebrate 20 years of his debut, and it is planned to perform from 2019 to 2020.

However, due to the impact of the epidemic since then, subsequent performances have been postponed and cancelled, and Jay Chou's plans and the work arrangements of the performers have been disrupted.

"It's been almost three years. Three years is really a long time." As the chairman of Beijing Jingqi Feifei Film and Television Culture Co., Ltd., Tian Jingquan participated in the preparations for the Ji'an Station of Jay Chou's Carnival World Tour.

Recalling the grand occasion of nearly 100,000 audiences in the two concerts that year, and the many crises encountered by the concert market during the epidemic, Tian Jingquan felt a lot of emotion.

Recently, Tian Jingquan returned to Jinan to prepare for the introduction of Zhang Yixing's concert into Jinan.

"In order to adapt to the situation of epidemic prevention and control, we are now looking at which city conditions are mature, and we will perform in which city."

The impact of the epidemic on the offline concert industry is very obvious, but the industry is also seeking opportunities in the crisis and accumulating strength.

In 2020, Tian Jingquan's company, together with iQiyi, took the lead in holding the concert of Wang Ziyi and You Changjing at the Wukesong Stadium in Beijing. Although there were only 3,000 people in one concert, this was the first offline indoor concert since the epidemic. Icebreaker.

"We groped little by little to take anti-epidemic measures, including how to arrange the scene, how to prevent the audience from epidemics, how to prevent the performance of the performance team, etc." Later, Tian Jingquan's company teamed up with JD.com to hold Yang Kun's concert in Beijing, and the audience size reached More than 6000 people.

From weak to strong

"Before 2014, Jinan's performance market was really at the bottom of the national capital cities." In 2014, Tian Jingquan opened up the concert market in Jinan.

From 2014 to 2019, Tian Jingquan's company planned, hosted and co-hosted a number of concerts in Jinan, including Jay Chou, Mayday, Eason Chan, Liang Jingru, Li Jian, Zhou Huajian, Wang Feng, Li Zongsheng, Deng Ziqi, etc. He participated in And witnessed the Jinan concert market from scratch, from weak to strong.

"In 2019, Jinan can already be ranked first in the national performance market. Almost all brokerage companies must have Jinan Station when arranging artist tours."

In Tian Jingquan's view, Jinan has many advantages in developing the performance market.

"All aspects are relatively standardized, and it has done a very good job of supporting the entire cultural industry." Modern hardware facilities and extensive and convenient transportation make Jinan a blessed place in the eyes of the performance industry.

"In preparation for Zhang Yixing's concert tour this time, venues in many other cities are not ideal, but the Olympic Sports Center in Jinan was immediately picked up by Zhang Yixing's team."

The strong flow of concerts will bring huge consumption power to a city.

In 2019, Jay Chou held two concerts in Jinan, attracting nearly 100,000 spectators. According to the statistics of the ticketing party, more than 60% of them were foreign audiences.

"It's not bad that Jinan audiences can grab one-third of the tickets. In many places, local audiences can only grab 20% of the tickets." Tian Jingquan also negotiated with Jinan's cultural and tourism department before, whether it can be launched. One concert and one free ticket to Baotu Spring, allowing non-local audiences to stay in Jinan for one more night, boosting consumption.

"Jinan has become a cultural landmark city, and I hope Jinan can become a leader in the performance market in the future."

  Survival of the fittest

The prosperous scene of the online concert was naturally also noticed by Tian Jingquan.

But Tian Jingquan believes that online concerts cannot completely replace offline concerts in the future.

"The biggest obstacle to online concerts is that they can't really interact. Watching alone on the screen is not the same thing as watching tens of thousands of people on the scene. It's not impossible to broadcast the performance on the Internet, but it's not like this now. It’s not that simple.” He felt that he could use this period to try new models and new methods of online performances, “It must be a brand-new format, a brand-new form, just We haven't found it yet, and we need to keep exploring."

The epidemic has also allowed the survival of the fittest in the performance industry, allowing a group of regular performance groups to survive.

Looking to the future, the blowout of the performance market after the end of the epidemic is foreseeable. The backlogged demand and emotions of the audience have to be released, and the performance desire of the performers will also explode. How to deal with the performance market after the end of the epidemic?

Tian Jingquan, who has been in the industry for many years, hopes that at that time, both inside and outside the industry will remain rational and calm.

"Don't rush up and overwhelm the market, because this risk does exist. At that time, the audience will hold back for three years, the performance group will hold back for three years, and the artists will hold back for three years. This market will be crowded out. So I desperately hope to be able to make plans at that time, see how much our market can bear, and take out a transition period of two or three years to protect this market and the content of performances. Let them develop in an orderly manner."
