  After graduating from the Beijing Film Academy's performance department in 1965, director Chen Jialin entered the Changchun Film Studio as an actor, and began as a director in 1979.

He directed the film Bird Island for the first time and won the Excellent Film Award of the Ministry of Culture in 1979, and then directed the film Flying Crane (1982) and the biographical film Tan Sitong (1984), both of which won the Ministry of Culture in that year. Outstanding Film Award.
