In the Gard, the fires have been raging for several days.

The most devastating of them, in Bessèges and Bordezac, destroyed more than 620 hectares of vegetation.

To limit the risk of new fires, the Gard prefecture indicated at the start of the afternoon that access on foot or by car to forests and scrubland of more than one hectare was strictly prohibited, in the department, until Monday.

A fine of 750 euros

The parking of any vehicle is also prohibited.

This prohibition does not apply, however, to persons in charge of a public service mission which justifies their presence in the massif, to owners, tenants and their relatives and to service providers or persons carrying out work.

Rescue services are also, of course, authorized to circulate in forests and scrubland.

In the event of a breach of this prefectural decree, the State services warn that offenders will have to turn around, with a fine of 750 euros in their pocket.
