• First running of the bulls The art of distinguishing between halters and bulls

  • San Fermín 2022 program: program, running of the bulls, tours and concerts

Six very fine black bulls, with open horns, great rags.

Ahead, hundreds of young people fighting for a place a few seconds in front of them.

A lockdown like before.

Fast and without injuries from bulls' horns, but with many points of emotion, danger, enjoyment for those who have gone to Pamplona determined to risk it.

From the start, the race has been hectic.

Two of the bulls have soon taken the lead, launching errands left and right to make themselves respected.

Man down here and there, without much consequence.

On arrival at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento there was a threat of crowding, half a dozen runners crouched down to try to avoid being trampled, run over.

The Cadiz bulls of Fuente Ymbro have flown to the Estafeta curve, where they have arrived with terrible violence.

There have been no slips, but they have hit the fence so hard that one of them has been turned around, facing the opposite direction of the march.

While his brothers have lined up the Estafeta towards the plaza, he has hesitated.

A runner with a black sweatshirt who was passing by has served as a guide and for a few moments an amazing scene has taken place: a huge hole, no runner, and a loose bull starting the race.

There he has behaved with nobility, without making friends, but without looking to the sides, where the remains of the confinement that had just passed were left.

The route of the running of the bulls of San Fermín, in detail

On the straight, the halters have lost almost all the prominence and races have been seen with the herd very divided.

First one ahead, three behind, all looking to form a herd, but completely surrounded by young men at all times.

It was not easy to get in front of the antlers of Fuente Ymbro, but when it was achieved, runs were seen.

Some runners have even been able to jump from bull to bull, multiplying the enjoyment.

The moments of greatest danger have been seen in the Telefónica fence.

By reducing the speed, those of Fuente Ymbro have had more of a shot at the waiters.

And many of them among the pythons, literally.

The antlers have slipped again and again down the backs, thighs and sides of the runners, without being gored.

The last bull, lagging behind in the group, has rushed to catch up with the rest of the herd, but has not succeeded.

He has arrived alone at the square and with an apparent lack of strength, or sudden weakness.

He has taken almost a minute to enter the bullpens at the point of the doublers' cape.

The real race has reached the square in just over two minutes.

The Fuente Ymbro bulls will be fought by Daniel Luque, José Garrido and Álvaro Lorenzo.
