On July 8, after five years of construction, the new Tibet Museum was officially opened to the public.

The Tibet Museum is close to the World Cultural Heritage Potala Palace and Norbulingka. In October 2017, its reconstruction and expansion project was officially launched.

The new museum is expanded on the basis of the old one, and the appearance of the building follows the traditional Tibetan architecture.

It is understood that the Tibet Museum has a collection of 520,000 cultural relics.

Among them, there are more than 40,000 pieces (sets) of precious cultural relics, including 18 categories such as archaeological unearthed cultural relics, seals and seals, thangkas, ancient books, statues, ritual utensils, porcelain, jade, silk fabrics, and miscellaneous items. , artistic and scientific value.

More than 2,700 pieces (sets) of cultural relics were exhibited this time, of which more than 600 pieces (sets) of cultural relics were exhibited for the first time.
