All this week, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise on July 7, 2021, we come back every day to a particular aspect of this assassination and its consequences.

“A year after the assassination, we are still in mourning.

The Haitian people are in mourning.

, ”said Ariel Henry, who took advantage of the platform of the day to again call on the political class to dialogue, saying that they did not need to agree. on everything to work together.

“In these painful circumstances, I humbly take on the responsibility of telling you that I intend to carry out with determination and patriotism until the end the mission entrusted to me, namely to restore security and peace, which are essential for the organization elections and contribute to a national understanding".

But for the past year, dialogue with the opposition has been dragging on while the gangs continue with impunity to commit daily kidnappings, and within the political class, each one pleads good faith and rejects the reason for the blockage on the other.

Ecuador: the start of negotiations

The Ecuadorian government and the leaders of indigenous organizations began Thursday, July 7, 2022 in Quito, the negotiations provided for in the agreement signed at the end of June by the two parties having made it possible to put an end to the demonstrations against the high cost of living.

The meeting took place under the mediation of the Catholic Church, whose intervention had enabled the signing of the agreement on 30 June.
