The Moroccan team secured first place in Group A of the Women's African Cup of Nations (CAN 2022), this July 8 in Rabat, by beating Senegal 1-0 thanks to a penalty from Ghizlane Chebbak.

The selection of Burkina Faso, it is eliminated, after a 2-2 draw against Uganda.

For the third time during this Women's African Cup of Nations (

), the Moroccans won in group A.

This July 8 in Rabat, they however lacked success and / or conviction, in particular chaining shots on target but too soft (Sanaa Missoudy 3rd, Rosella Ayane 17th, Hanane Ait El Haj 32nd).

The Senegalese, who came to impose their physical superiority, were even less incisive.

The Lionesses, it is true, had already qualified for the quarter-finals.

They also seemed to suffer the blow athletically, with this third game in six days.

Another penalty

It was therefore a penalty (the third for Morocco in this AFCON), following a handball error by Salimata Ndiaye in her area, which allowed Moroccan captain Chebbak to open the scoring: 1-0 , 54th.

A penalty, Senegal could perhaps have had one following contact between Hapsatou Diallo and Yasmine Mrabet.

But referee Akhona Makalima did not whistle.

The Lionesses of the Atlas will therefore face the 3rd of group B or C in Rabat on Wednesday July 13 while the Senegalese will play the same day against the 1st of group B in Casablanca.

At stake: qualify for the semi-finals of CAN 2022 and thus obtain a direct ticket for the 2023 World Cup.

However, the adventure ends here for Burkina Faso, who drew 2-2 against Uganda in Casablanca.

The Burkinabè leave their first CAN with 1 point and valuable experience.

Finally, note the sumptuous goal of the striker of the Stallions Ladies, Adama Congo.

Her slalom in the middle of three players will perhaps be voted the most beautiful achievement of the tournament...
