On July 7, the China Consumers Association and the China Health Care Association Cosmetics Development Working Committee issued a summer consumption reminder to ensure the safety of children's makeup.

The reminder stated that recently, some businesses have used certain raw materials that can be used to produce "food" in the production of cosmetics, and took the opportunity to call such cosmetics "food-grade" cosmetics, implying that parents make such cosmetics safer for children to use .

In fact, cosmetics and food are two different categories of products. According to different regulations, different product standards, raw material requirements, production conditions, etc. are applied. There is no so-called "food-grade" cosmetics.

In real life, when consumers buy a certain product, they often attach great importance to the safety performance of the product.

The so-called "food grade" labeling or publicity often gives people the impression that the product is very safe, and some businesses also use this to promote "food grade".

But as the Consumers Association reminds, there are no so-called "food-grade" cosmetics.

As a result, the regulatory authorities should tear off this false veil to prevent some businesses from using "food grade" as a guise to fool consumers.

In general, "food grade" gives the impression of being absolutely safe, as if the product can be eaten as food.

Therefore, in the eyes of some uninformed people, edible cosmetics are naturally very safe and can be used with confidence.

As everyone knows, although some cosmetics use certain raw materials that can be used to produce "food" in the production, cosmetics and food are two different categories of products, which are applicable to different product standards, raw material requirements, and production conditions.

For example, according to the "Regulations on the Supervision and Administration of Cosmetics", cosmetics refer to the daily chemical industry that is applied to the skin, hair, nails, lips and other human surfaces by rubbing, spraying or other similar methods for the purpose of cleaning, protection, beautification and modification. product.

According to the "Food Safety Law", food refers to various finished products and raw materials for human consumption or drinking, as well as articles that are traditionally both food and Chinese medicinal materials, but does not include articles for the purpose of treatment.

That is, the two are essentially different types of products and cannot be confused together.

For example, pure water or mineral water can be drunk, and most cosmetics contain pure water, or mainly use pure water as raw materials, but cosmetics belonging to the daily chemical industry products are obviously not drinkable.

It can be seen that this kind of propaganda method is not only using ordinary people's knowledge misunderstandings and understanding deviations to play a marginal role, but also a cross-border behavior of false propaganda.

The "Advertising Law" clearly stipulates that false or misleading content to deceive and mislead consumers constitutes false advertising.

If the performance, function, origin, use, quality, specifications, ingredients and other information of the product are inconsistent with the actual situation and have a substantial impact on the purchase behavior, it is a false advertisement.

Therefore, food is food, and cosmetics are cosmetics. "Food-grade" cosmetics do not regard food as cosmetics, but still belong to daily chemical industry supplies.

For such common sense, consumer associations should repeatedly spread to the public to avoid the public falling into the trap.

The regulatory authorities should enforce the law on a regular basis, and show their swords to this new type of false propaganda. For example, according to the "Advertising Law", false propaganda can be fined up to 2 million yuan, and its business license can be revoked.

Only by saying no to this behavior of fooling consumers with the attitude that there is no room for sand in our eyes, can we prevent "food-grade" cosmetics from becoming a new tool for cutting leeks.
