Four municipal swimming pools in Avignon (Vaucluse) will be closed all summer, the City has decided.

This measure is far from unanimous among the inhabitants, many of whom used to take advantage of these bathing places to better withstand the heat.

The fact that the municipality has, on the other hand, chosen to leave the nautical stadium open is only a small consolation, explains RTL.

Entrance costs 8 euros per person, where you have to pay 1.50 euros to access the municipal swimming pools.

This aquatic center is also located far from the city center and generates additional transport costs.

The inhabitants also regret that the stadium is open to the sky, unlike the municipal swimming pools which, covered, offer more freshness.

Energy is expensive

To justify its choice, the Town Hall highlighted the cost of energy to operate the pools as well as the renovation programs for municipal pools.

The desire to make the nautical stadium profitable could also explain the decision.
